Workplace violence affects employees and employers alike, whether it is the emotional trauma and physical injury experienced by the victims or the organizational consequences of increased absenteeism, lost productivity and high employee turnover. This online self-paced course examines the characteristics of workplace violence and introduces the components of an effective workplace violence prevention program. Participants will learn about the different tools and techniques that can help eliminate or minimize the potential for violence in the workplace.

Topics include:

  • defining the scope of workplace violence, including harassment
  • understanding the legal obligations
  • assessing hazards and developing preventive measures
  • establishing an emergency response plan
  • providing victim assistance and incident follow-up
