CSPS Digital Accelerator Program

The CSPS Digital Accelerator Program is an applied learning program that supports modernizing operations and developing a culture of agility and user-centred service design. It connects to the Government of Canada's service agenda by providing opportunities for public servants to explore and experiment with collaborative, open, human-centred and iterative ways of defining problems and developing solutions.

Intended for learners interested in developing their skills in product delivery, service delivery and design thinking, the CSPS Digital Accelerator Program builds digital abilities through flexible, self-directed courses, and immersive, instructor-led boot camps, based on the learning format that best suits the needs of each participant.

Topics include:

Participants will also be encouraged to share their take-aways and experiences with their peers, fostering a community of practice that extends beyond the program itself.

Format options

The CSPS Digital Accelerator Program offers two different formats for learning about the design thinking process. Regardless of the format chosen, upon completion of the program, participants will have learned how to leverage team-building and cross-functional collaboration, apply user research methodologies and human-centred approaches, and adopt agile and product management frameworks to advance their work.

Participants may move between the self-directed and facilitated formats based on their learning preferences. For instance, participants learning through the facilitated format may want to go deeper into specific practices found in the self-paced format. Alternatively, participants may complete the self-paced format and return later to complete the facilitated format.

Format 1: Self-directed learning journey

CSPS Digital Accelerator Learning Path

Participants have the flexibility to learn at their own pace, without a deadline. This format requires that participants complete Introduction to Human-Centred Design, and The Design Process Series, a collection of five courses which present each of the different stages in the design thinking process, and all within a Government of Canada context. The self-directed learning journey also includes job aids, articles and other self-directed learning products, requiring a commitment of approximately 10 hours to achieve certification of completion.

There is no set timeline to complete this online self-directed learning journey.

Format 2: Facilitated learning journey

CSPS Digital Accelerator Design Thinking Boot Camp

Participants join a structured, interactive experience in a virtual classroom setting. This format consists of a 2.5 consecutive days commitment to complete the hands-on learning experience. Expert facilitators will guide participants in applying design thinking principles using a real-world Government of Canada case study.

This boot camp requires a multi-day investment and is offered several times per month.
