Objectives: To welcome participants, review the conference objectives and present a general vision of how to engage young and new professionals in the public service.

KEYNOTE ADDRESSESNote* note: Session available by webcast with simultaneous interpretation.

Objective: To provide an overview of the topic of engagement, including how it is defined within the public service and how to engage effectively in order to advance professionally.

There will be two keynote speakers who will each give a half-hour presentation (9:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.).

CONCURRENT WORKSHOPS
  1. Engaging Our Peers – English

    Objective: To provide participants with tools for networking and information on how networking can be used as a personal marketing strategy to further their career in the public service. Participants will also take part in a networking exercise.

  2. Engaging Our Management – Bilingual

    Objective: To provide participants with an opportunity to meet with approximately six public service executives to ask them questions related to career and professional development. The session will take on the format of "speed mentoring," where participants will be put into groups and will meet with each executive for 10-minute intervals.

  3. Engaging Our Stakeholders* note: Session available by webcast with simultaneous interpretation. – Bilingual

    Objective: To provide participants with tools and information to help ensure effective and positive communication with stakeholders. This session will take on the format of Ignite presentations, where 6 to 10 speakers will present on the topic for approximately 5 to 7 minutes each.

  4. Engaging Technology – French

    Objective: To provide participants with information on various Web 2.0 technologies and social media to enhance job performance and career development.

  5. Self-Engaging – French

    Objective: To provide participants with information and tools to fully engage in their work. Participants will receive tips on how to succeed and enable their growth potential in order to further their career within the public service.
