Assistant Deputy Minister, Natural Resources Canada's Nòkwewashk
Angie Bruce is Assistant Deputy Minister of Natural Resources Canada's Nòkwewashk – the first Government of Canada departmental team to be gifted its name by Indigenous Elders.
Ms. Bruce is changing the cultural landscape at Natural Resources Canada. She is a relationship builder and works to accelerate reconciliation with Indigenous peoples to build relationships, break down barriers and link regulatory, engagement and policy processes across resource sectors to ensure Indigenous peoples are meaningfully included in the development of Canada's natural resources.
Prior to joining NRCan, Ms. Bruce was Manitoba's Indigenous and Northern Relations and Municipal Relations Deputy Minister. She has also held senior positions with the Legacy of Hope Foundation and the Aboriginal Healing Foundation.
Ms. Bruce holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the Asper School of Business and is currently a PhD Candidate at Nipissing University.
