Canada in Asia: The View from the Ground

The Asia-Pacific region is growing in global importance and in its importance to Canada. By 2030, Asia is expected to account for half of the global GDP. It is Canada's largest source of migrants, temporary workers and students and is also a growing source of tourism. Four of our top ten trading partners are in Asia, with China our second-largest partner and Japan our third.

What does the rise of Asia mean for Canada and for Canadian public policy? How do we advance Canadian interests and build relationships in this dynamic and complex region? A panel of experienced heads of Canadian missions from across Asia will address these questions, drawing on their hands-on experience doing business in the region.
