Distinguished fellow: Anita Biguzs

Before joining the School's faculty, Anita Biguzs spent 7 years as a senior leader in the public service at Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, Transport Canada and the Treasury Board Secretariat of Canada. Her career in senior management covered numerous federal departments and central agencies, from the Privy Council Office and the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat to Canadian Heritage and Health Canada. She also spent 2 years in the private sector on an Executive Interchange assignment.

This wide range of experience has provided Anita with extensive expertise not only in leadership, but in policy, diversity and inclusion, international affairs and financial management.

Career highlights

  • Led Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada in delivering on the Government of Canada commitment to resettling 25,000 Syrian refugees between November 2015 and February 2016

  • Graduate of Queen's University (Kingston) and of the Sorbonne University (Paris, France)
  • Management diplomas from Carleton University (Ottawa) and from Queen's University Public Executive Program
