Over 33 years, Tom has held a number of progressively senior positions in the public service, including chief audit and evaluation executive, and chief financial officer. He also had the unique challenge of leading Sport Canada for 5 years and being the assistant deputy minister responsible for official languages, youth, museum and Aboriginal language programs. His final assignment was within the Office of the Comptroller General, as Assistant Comptroller General, Financial Management, with responsibility for government financial and accounting policy, as well as talent management for the government-wide financial management community.
Throughout his career, Tom gained extensive experience in numerous disciplines, including program management, policy development, strategic planning and governance, support to a minister's office, and the management of departmental operations. He looks forward to sharing his experiences with current and future leaders of the public service through his association with the Canadian School of Public Service.
Tom now enjoys an active retirement with his wife, Danielle. Travelling and sharing life with their family are their main preoccupations.
