[00:00:07] Hi, I'm Dugald Topshee, the Chief Information Officer at the Department of Justice Canada, and it's my pleasure to speak to you today, about the way we're leveraging cloud technology to deliver on our mandate.

[00:00:17] My department provides legal services to the entire government of Canada, and so we have over a thousand employees who act like in-house counsel at over 40 different departments and agencies. I was asked to provide those employees with a better connectivity experience. And so we set out to do it in the traditional way running cables into buildings, providing everyone with a second device that connected back to our network. This was an expensive and inelegant solution, but before secure public cloud technology was enabled available to us, it was our only option.

[00:00:47] We've now switched to a far superior solution where we're building a digital workspace in the cloud, which houses all the key applications that an employee the Department of Justice needs. With our new single-sign-on cloud environment, all Justice employees will get the same experience when they connect from any Government of Canada building, from their home office, or directly from a courtroom. Leveraging the power of the cloud, we can finally make our employees and departmental legal service units feel like a part of the Department of Justice rather than apart from it.
